Mindfulness Training to Quit Smoking

Mindfulness Training to Quit Smoking

Nicotine is a commonly abused drug easily available through smoking. While cigarette smoking is still the leading cause of preventable death globally, its recovery rate remains modest.

Helping your young kids quit smoking is part of our various drug rehabilitation programs. At Teen Drug Addiction Rehab Treatment Center, we aim to help you or your loved one let go of your dependence on nicotine.

Drug rehab centers help support the patient’s recovery through managing withdrawal symptoms, individual and group counseling, and prescribed medical treatment, within a safe and private environment.

However, we acknowledge quitting is not easy. A combination of drug treatment and psychological activities works differently in every patient.

Mindfulness training is the process of purposely bringing your attention to the task in front of you. The participant is supposed to live the current experience without judgment. When one has their full focus on the task at hand, there is greater willpower to drive the wanted results.

Mindfulness training has been cited in many psychiatric disorders such as anxiety, depression, and addictions. A study by the Department of Psychiatry, Yale University School of Medicine found that 88% of participants who used mindfulness training have a greater rate of reduction in cigarette use.

While this sounds too easy, this makes sense. A mindful individual can recognize the distasteful nature of smoking and can drive internal decision making.
